Metro Maniac is a 2D simulation based of Singapore's train system. Players will take on the role as the Station Manager where they have to carefully manage their resources.

As a Lead Designer, I guided the team to do a mind map before jumping into implementing various systems in the game. By brain storming all the ideas and connecting them together, the game idea is then solidified with the objective of the game being clear to every single person. This mind map helps the team when the team is lost or stuck when implementing the system as they could always refer back to an image to clarify their doubts.

I have also make sure that the Core Game Loop is visible to every single team member so that the team will not lose the direction and vision of the game.

UI/UX Designer

I take charge in deciding the layout of the UI on the screen itself. I have studied and adopted the standard layout that are found in many simulation game to make it familiar to veteran simulation player. I try to use as little space as possible in the screen so as to not take the immersion away from the players.

I also did some layout for the build panel that exist in the game. I have picked up inspirations from phone screen and incorporate them into the game to create a sense of familiarity for the players.

The first mistake that I made was to combine all the information into one panel which caused an information overload to the players. I realised that it was too wordy and players don't normally read, I quickly changed the layout and make it less wordy. 

​

I then introduce icons that are normally familiar to the players such as a cola can for vending machine and burger for fast food chains. I make sure the icons work as I conducted many play test for this area.  

Lead Artist

As the lead artist, I have set the theme and the narrative of the game. I have also adapted and drawn famous landmark such as the merlion, ferris wheel, which help players in identifying the location of the game world. Apart from that, I have also created event such as National Day Event where the iconic chinook fly past with the Singapore Flag.
