Roles Summary

Lead Game Designer

  • Game Idea

  • Overall Game Design

  • Written A Progression Design Document

  • Setting the overall game feel.

As the Lead Game Designer of the team, I set the direction of the game and the overall game feel. With that, I guided my team to do a mind map of the various system that are in the game. The challenge for the game design area was the progression of the game. To counter that problem, I have created a Progression Design Document to show the goals and the objectives for the team to have a clearer picture.

I have also make sure that the Core Game Loop is visible to every single team member so that the team will not lose the direction and vision of the game.

UI/UX Designer

I have done some layout for the recipe panel that exist in the game. I have picked up inspirations from real cook books and incorporate them into the game to help make the recipe look realistic.

The first mistake that I made was to combine all the information into one panel which caused an information overload to the players. I realised that it was too wordy, I quickly changed the layout by splitting the panels into two screens instead of squeezing everything into one small space.

The second mistake was the colours of the HUD. The orange theme to the HUD is too bright that it might hurt the player's eyes. I then decided to change the colours of the HUD and also the background colours for the various screens to help soothe the player's eye when staring at these screen for a long time.

2D/3D Artist

As one of the 2D/3D artist in the team, I have set the theme and the narrative of the game. I have also adapted and replicate closely to the location that we reference from. This help players in identifying the location of the game world. Apart from that, I have also modeled out all the basic props and block out that are required in the game before passing on to my Lead Artist to texture and refine my models.

On top of that, I am also in charge of all the 2D food sprites and raw ingredients that are seen in the games. I have drawn the ingredients as close as the various dishes that are seen in real life.
